Configuring HipChat Notifications in Splunk for JSD Server

You can configure Splunk to automatically send notifications to a HipChat room when a saved search generates an alert.

Prerequisites

Procedure

To automatically send HipChat notifications from Splunk alerts, add an action to the alert in Splunk.

  1. From the Alerts page, select an alert to open its detail page, and then use the Click to edit actions link.
    Alternatively, run a search, and go to Save As > Alert.
  2. At the bottom of the window, click Add Actions, and then select HipChat.
  3. Configure the notification details and the following HipChat connection details:
    • Auth Token — HipChat API auth token that you want to use for Splunk notifications.
    • HipChat Server URL —  URL to your HipChat instance.
  4. Click Save. 
    The next time the search generates an alert, it will automatically create a notification in the HipChat room.
